American Rooter & Drain is hiring an Install Helper to support underground and plumbing install projects. You'll work under the Underground Lead, assisting with trenching, site prep, backfill, and cleanup while learning to operate equipment and grow into a lead role.

This hands-on role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and punctuality, with mentorship from experienced technicians and opportunities to gain practical skills on real jobs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Valid Idaho driver’s license.
• Ability to follow safety rules and work orders.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• Background in hard labor, the trades, construction, or similar physically demanding work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
• Assist with trenching, site prep, backfill, and cleanup under supervision.
• Collaborate with the team to complete work on schedule.
• Support the Underground Lead with trenching, tunneling, and site prep for underground plumbing and drain work.
• Dig, shovel, and hand-excavate where machinery cannot safely reach.
• Set up trench safety systems and assist with utility locate markings.
• Assist with pipe handling, bedding material placement, and backfill/compaction.
• Act as a spotter and signal person when machinery is operating.
• Do pre- and post-use checks and basic upkeep of tools and equipment.
• Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
• Restore the site after work, including cleanup and debris removal.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers, technicians, and coworkers.
• Continue developing skills through hands-on training and mentorship.
