Job summary

Detroit Salt Company is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator (Haul Truck Driver) to transport salt and other materials within the mine. This role requires loading, hauling, and unloading in a timely and safe manner while following MSHA regulations and operating procedures in an underground environment.

The ideal candidate has solid driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely underground.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with heavy equipment preferred (haul trucks, loaders).
• Must pass physical and drug tests.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work underground.

Responsibilities

• Work responsibly and follow all safety policies and regulations; stay alert to hazards.
• Operate heavy equipment safely underground, including haul trucks.
• Perform basic maintenance on conveyors, crushers, and screens; replace parts as needed.
• Perform basic service on mobile equipment (fluids, coverings, greasing).
• Assist maintenance with tasks under supervision.
• Inspect and document daily mining activities and ensure quality of work.
