Job summary

Williams Fire Sprinkler Company, Inc. is seeking a dependable Underground Fire Main Installation / Service Technician to join our team! This is a hands-on role with outdoor work on important fire protection projects using state-of-the-art equipment.

You will install and repair underground mains, locate leaks, assist with excavation, and help with system testing and service work. Travel to various jobsites is required, with safe practices and teamwork emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair underground fire mains, piping, fittings, valves, fire hydrants, and related fire protection equipment.
• Locate and fix underground leaks, replace damaged piping and components.
• Assist with excavation, trench preparation, pipe bedding, backfilling, and compaction.
• Assemble pipe joints and install restraint systems, thrust blocking, and other essential components.
• Help with system flushing, pressure testing, and restoring systems to service.
• Support overhead fire sprinkler installation, including hangers, piping, sprinkler replacements, and service work.
• Read and follow installation drawings, work orders, and supervisor instructions.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pumps, lifts, and construction equipment as trained.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
• Follow safe excavation practices: utility locating, trench protection, and secure access.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas, and care for company tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Communicate job progress, material needs, and unexpected site conditions to supervisors.
• Complete service reports and accurately document work performed.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with underground utilities, water mains, fire protection piping, plumbing, or excavation.


• Prior equipment operation experience is a plus.


• Construction or fire protection industry background.


• Experience reading technical drawings and work orders.
