Job summary

Heartland Underground Solutions (HUS) Helper is an entry-level field position supporting underground utility installation, maintenance, and repair. This role performs general labor, assists crew members, maintains safe and organized jobsites, and develops underground construction skills through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities include assisting with excavation, conduit installation, load/unload of tools, and following safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Construction experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• CDL preferred; must be insurable under the company policy.
• Willingness to obtain CDL.

Responsibilities

• Assist with excavation, trench preparation, backfilling, and restoration.
• Load, unload, and organize tools and materials.
• Safely operate hand and basic power tools.
• Follow directions from Foremen and experienced crew members.
• Learn underground construction methods and company procedures.
• Follow OSHA requirements and wear PPE; report unsafe conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
