Job description

We are hiring an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

This position is responsible for managing a territory and recruiting students throughout the admissions process. Responsibilities include traveling to college fairs, high school visits, and regional presentations to build leads. The counselor maintains contact with students and families during the application and admission process, actively calling and messaging to gauge interest and assist in enrollment. They evaluate and participate in the selection of candidates for admission and awards academic merit scholarships. Maintaining connections with high school counselors, alumni, and current Creighton parents in the assigned territory is essential. The counselor will also develop and deliver public presentations to promote the institution, ranging from individual student meetings to large audiences of up to 500.

Due to travel requirements and the need for consistent follow-up, this position often requires over 40 hours per week, including night and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Correspond with students.
  2. Follow up with visitors/applicants and respond to phone and email communications.
  3. Assist families throughout the admissions process and support enrollment efforts.
  4. Meet prospective students on campus.
  5. Provide individualized appointments and group presentations for students and families.
  6. Review applicant credentials for admission and scholarship awards.
  7. Collaborate with admission staff and committees to prepare applicant files for review.
  8. Assist applicants with completing their files.
  9. Represent the university at campus visit days and help plan visit programs.
  10. Travel within an assigned territory for interviews, college fairs, high school visits, and receptions.
  11. Maintain relationships with high school counselors, alumni, and parents in the territory.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of related advising or counseling experience preferred.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective presentation and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of admission terminology and testing.
  • Research skills and proficiency with computer software.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to institutional policies.
  • Willingness to travel, work evenings and weekends, and handle travel-related stress.
  • Excellent communication with prospective students, parents, and counselors.
