Job summary

The University of Houston Sugar Land campus seeks an advisor to provide basic academic advising to prospective and enrolled undergraduate students. You will guide them through degree requirements, course selection, and academic policies, helping with registration and scheduling.

Responsibilities include referring students to tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and other campus resources; maintaining student records; and supporting orientation and onboarding.

Qualifications

• Requires a thorough understanding of academic advising principles and student services.
• Experience may be substituted by education as noted by the institution.
• No prior experience required for some applicants.

Responsibilities

• Advise enrolled and prospective students on degree requirements and curriculum.
• Guide students through course selection and academic policies.
• Assist with registration and schedule planning.
• Refer students to tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and other campus resources.
• Maintain accurate student records in advising systems.
• Support orientation and onboarding activities.
• Respond to routine inquiries via email and appointments.
• May assist in recruiting students and presenting at events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
