Qualifications

  • Masters degree and one year advising experience.
  • Experience with University Policies & Procedures.
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of organizational and coordination skills; ability to adapt to changing schedules.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent initiative and judgement.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual advising to approximately 300 assigned students (first-year, transfer or continuing caseload).
  • Assist in transitioning to college, academic planning and progression, and campus engagement.
  • Communicate and meet regularly with students, their College, and the University Advising Center.
  • Maintain an average advising schedule of 30 hours per week and manage student caseloads.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification; host outreach events.
  • Intervene with students as needed and use available technologies for effective advising.
