Job summary

Boston University’s College of Engineering seeks an Academic Advisor for the Undergraduate Programs Office. You will provide holistic advising to a caseload of about 250 undergraduates, guiding course selection, degree planning, and engagement in experiential opportunities such as internships and study abroad.

You will explain university policies, maintain records, and connect students with campus resources while using MyBU for information management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years relevant experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Good judgment and the ability to handle confidential materials with discretion.
• Collaborative work approach and ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Highly organized and attentive to detail.
• Ability to use systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom in the work environment and willingness to learn new software systems.
• Cover letter and resume required.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic academic advising for undergraduate students in ENG.
• Guide students on course selection and degree requirements.
• Monitor student performance and connect them with appropriate academic support.
• Maintain advising records in accordance with university policies and regulations.
• Explain BU/ENG policies and procedures to students.
• Develop expertise using MyBU, the University SIS.
• Support student services activities and engagement opportunities.
• Participate in advising-related professional development.
