Job Description

  • Hours: 10-20 hours/week (flexible)
  • This position offers part-time, flexible hours ideal for those balancing coursework and other life commitments.
  • Weekly hours can be adjusted depending on academic demands and availability.
    Description:
  • Support undergraduate chair and program associate with projects as identified
  • Sending reminders to faculty for administrative needs such as: submitting updated
    syllabi to help the department stay organized and compliant with university requirements
  • Posting announcements/events/syllabi on UGS website or other learning management
    systems
  • Maintaining student mailing lists ensuring accurate and streamlined communication
  • Creating flyers and/or other promotional materials for events showcasing creativity and
    basic design/tech skills.
  • Planning and attending events as a staff member - events such as the Senior Synthesis
    Symposium or department talks which may include purchasing items for refreshments,
    setting up, registration, welcoming guests, managing technological setup, tear down of
    the event
  • Attend a weekly meeting with supervisor at a predetermined time
  • The expectation is to attend a weekly check-in meeting with the undergraduate chair,
    program associate or both. This meeting is mutually agreed upon at a fixed time each
    week.
  • This meeting will serve to review progress on current tasks, clarify priorities and
    timelines, brainstorm next steps or problem solve challenges
  • Take on special research assignments from faculty as requested
  • Locating updated journal articles, books, or multimedia for a class reading list. This may
    involve library database searches or tracking down open access versions of journal
    articles
  • Exploring internship opportunities for students in the program - this could look like
    researching organizations, reaching out to them, making outreach spreadsheets,
    summarizing key details for faculty and students
  • Conduct exit interviews with recent program alumni; and collate qualitative data for faculty
    review
  • Interviewing recent graduates to gather feedback about their experiences in the program
  • Compiling qualitative data and organizing it into readable formats - summary report,
    quotes by theme, that faculty can use to evaluate and improve the program.

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication skills - you should be comfortable composing professional
    emails, summarizing research findings, creating polished and creative flyers and reporting
    interview data clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail - A successful applicant will be detail oriented, catch errors and strive
    for precision
  • Independent; self-responsible - tasks will be completed in your own time without close
    supervision.
    It is important to stay on top of deadlines, communicate progress and take initiative
    in managing your schedule.
  • Creative problem-solver; willing to ask for support when needed - candidate is expected to
    think critically and be solution oriented with the ability to to ask questions to clarify expectations.
