Job summary

Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG) and LPE Associates are seeking Tobacco Retail Inspectors to perform undercover tobacco inspections on behalf of the FDA in Oregon. Inspectors will supervise Underage Purchasers during non-confrontational checks to ensure retailers do not sell tobacco to minors.

The role involves conducting compliance checks, collecting data, preparing reports, and traveling to assigned locations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience performing inspections and compliance checks preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections of tobacco retailers and complete compliance check inspection forms.
• Prepare narrative report revealing potential compliance issues or violations.
• Collect evidence of violations including custody of tobacco products, photographing evidence, and shipping evidence for enforcement.
• Facilitate undercover buys in coordination with trained Underage Purchasers.
• Conduct follow-up inspections for compliance and for complaints.
• Travel to assigned locations according to own schedule to complete compliance checks.
• Willingness to testify in enforcement hearings.
• Adhere to regulations regarding inspections and working with Underage Purchasers.
