Job summary

Compass Health Center, LLC is seeking a Family Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team in the Oak Brook, IL area. The role centers on conducting family sessions with child/adolescent patients and their families, guiding goals, and supporting progress through PHP/IOP levels of care.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s level degree in psychology or therapy and a license (PhD/PsyD/LCSW/LCPC preferred). Experience with CBT/DBT and crisis settings is highly valued, with opportunities for growth

Qualifications

  • Psychologist or Master’s level therapist required.
  • License options: PhD, PsyD, LCSW or LCPC preferred.
  • 1+ years clinical work experience post-Master’s preferred.
  • CBT/DBT and other evidenced‑based therapies experience.
  • Experience with crisis patients in partial hospitalization or IOP settings.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate family sessions with child/adolescent patients and families.
  • Provide guidance to promote goals and progress through the program.
  • Direct families on effective support strategies and safety planning.
  • Work with depression and anxiety presentations.
  • Phone coaching and follow-up with families.
  • Coordinate with the treatment team and attend rounds.
  • Communicate with outside providers for continuity of care.
  • Assess progress and need for higher level of care or discharge.
  • Help coordinate discharge planning and individual patient support.
  • Contribute clinical observations in interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Chart progress in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in program and team meetings; contribute to program growth.

Patients and their families rely on CompassHealth Center whenincrisis – every day, wehelp people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

Our Family Therapists play a key role in our multi-disciplinary teams and work to ensure synergy across treatment. As a Family Therapist, you’ll conduct family sessions with patients and their loved ones that will aim at providing support, offering education, and promoting collaboration. What You'll Do

  • Facilitating family sessions to a caseload of assigned child/adolescent patients and their loved ones
  • Providing guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients progress through the program.
  • Providing direction to families about effective ways of supporting patients. Discussion topics and family therapy goals include safety plans, incorporating skill implementation, improving communication, creating contracts.
  • Works with various presenting issues including depression and anxiety.
  • Assisting in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls.
  • Coordinating with the treatment team. This involves attending rounds and other program meetings regularly as well as using the electronic systems of communication.
  • Communicating with outside providers conducting family therapy for continuity of care.
  • Collaborating with the treatment team in assessing the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge.
  • Helping the family to coordinate an effective discharge plan.
  • Providing individual support to patients as needed.
  • Contributing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Charting progress of patients appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Participating in program meetings as needed.
  • Working on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of Compass.
  • Participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings/monthly family therapy meeting

Who You Are

  • Are a Psychologist or Master’s level therapist (required)
  • Hold one of the following licenses: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC (preferred)
  • 1+ years clinical work experience post-Master’s (strongly preferred)
  • Have knowledge and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies
  • Have experience with patients in crisis, ideally prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting
