Job summary

Allied Universal in Chicago, IL is seeking a Security Officer for full-time unarmed patrol and communications. You will monitor and protect client properties, deter incidents, and provide excellent customer service to tenants, visitors, and staff.

This role requires 5+ years of security experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work day and night shifts. A guard card or license is preferred, and some positions require a driver's license.

Qualifications

• Have at least 5 years of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and/or property staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating matters according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of commercial property interiors, exterior areas, parking facilities, common areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the property, documenting incidents, patrol findings, and policy violations in accordance with site requirements.
• Communicate professionally with building management, tenants, visitors, and emergency responders while supporting a welcoming environment at the location.
