Job summary

D.M. Burr Security is hiring a Part Time Unarmed Security Officer for 1st shift in Petoskey, MI. The role involves patrolling the Emmet County Building, monitoring cameras, and controlling access with strong customer service and professional conduct.

Schedule is Monday to Wednesday, 7:30am–5:30pm, with 1–2 on 2nd shift meetings. Wage is $17.50 per hour with benefits including a 401(k), PTO, steady schedule, and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior security or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned premises on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect signs of intrusion, unauthorized persons, or suspicious activity.
• Monitor security systems, alarms, and surveillance cameras.
• Control access to facilities by verifying identification and credentials.
• Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, providing assistance as needed.
• Document incidents, daily activities, and security irregularities in clear, accurate, and timely written reports.
• Enforce property rules and regulations professionally and courteously.
• Provide excellent customer service while interacting with employees, visitors, and the public.
• Assist in evacuations or other safety procedures in emergencies.
• Liaise with local law enforcement or emergency responders as necessary.
• Follow all company policies and procedures to maintain high standards of conduct and appearance.
