Job Overview

Rocky Mountain Protective Service Inc. is hiring dependable and professional Unarmed Security Officers

The Unarmed Security Officer will help maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring assigned areas, controlling access, assisting visitors, conducting routine security checks, and responding appropriately to security concerns.

This is a public-facing position requiring professionalism, good communication skills, dependability, and attention to surroundings.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances, exits, lobbies, and assigned security areas.

• Control access to restricted or secured areas.

• Greet visitors and provide general directions and assistance.

• Verify access and follow established entry procedures.

• Monitor visitor activity and report unusual or suspicious behavior.

• Conduct routine security checks of assigned areas.

• Conduct perimeter and parking-area checks when assigned.

• Monitor the security workstation and assigned communication equipment.

• Answer or route security-related calls when required.

• Identify and report prohibited, suspicious, or unauthorized items.

• Follow established procedures when security concerns or prohibited items are identified.

• Respond appropriately to alarms, incidents, disturbances, and emergencies.

• Assist with access control or evacuation procedures during emergencies.

• Contact supervisors or appropriate personnel when assistance is required.

• Complete incident reports and daily security documentation as required.

• Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude when interacting with the public.

• Follow all post orders, safety procedures, and security protocols.

• Perform other security-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Previous security experience preferred but not required for otherwise qualified candidates.

• Must have good communication and customer-service skills.

• Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and members of the public.

• Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult situations.

• Must be dependable and punctual.

• Must be able to stand, walk, and perform routine security duties during the assigned shift.

• Must successfully complete required background and employment screening.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must successfully complete required job-specific training.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in security, access control, customer service, public safety, corrections, military service, government facilities, or other public-facing environments is helpful.
