Job summary

Star Pro Security Patrol, Inc. is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer for Downtown San Diego. The role is part-time to full-time with a pay range of $17-19 per hour and a schedule to be determined.

The officer will protect residents, staff, and visitors and maintain a safe environment. The ideal candidate is alert, reliable, and compassionate, with strong observation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• California BSIS Guard Card is required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol shelter premises to deter intrusion and secure doors/windows.
• Assist in maintaining order and shelter policies among residents and staff.
• Respond promptly to alarms and disturbances and investigate causes.
• Provide visible security presence to deter incidents and reassure residents and staff.
• Conduct regular facility checks of sleeping, common, and outdoor areas.
• Report irregularities or safety hazards to shelter management.
• Assist in access control to ensure only authorized individuals enter.
• Provide resident/staff support including de-escalation and basic first aid if needed.
• Maintain logs of incidents and activities during shifts.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.

Job Summary:Star Pro Security Patrol, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Unarmed Security Officer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be alert, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and patrol shelter premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Assist in maintaining order and ensuring adherence to shelter rules and policies by residents, visitors, and staff.
• Respond promptly to alarms and disturbances, investigating the cause and taking appropriate action.
• Provide a visible security presence to deter potential incidents and reassure residents and staff.
• Conduct regular checks of the facility, including sleeping areas, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
• Report any irregularities, suspicious activities, or safety hazards to shelter management.
• Assist in the management of access control, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
• Provide assistance and support to residents and staff as needed, including conflict de-escalation and first aid if required.
• Maintain detailed logs and records of incidents and activities during each shift.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.

Qualifications:

• California BSIS Guard Card isREQUIRED
• Previous security experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• Understanding and empathy towards the needs of homeless individuals and families.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
