Job summary

South Florida State College in Avon Park, FL, seeks a part-time, unarmed security worker to help maintain a safe campus environment. Typical schedule: Monday–Friday 12:30 pm–6:00 pm, with flexibility for events.

Responsibilities include building checks and locking doors, turning off lights, inspecting fire prevention equipment, patrolling areas, preparing shift reports, and assisting with college events while adhering to policies and laws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; must be able to read and write effectively and be knowledgeable in fire prevention and safety practices.
• Experience in security work is preferred.
• Flexibility to work various shifts is strongly preferred. Must hold a current State of Florida Security Officer license (Class D or higher) or be willing to attend training and secure licensure within the first ninety (90) days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Checks inside and outside of building and locks doors when rooms are not in use.
• Turns off lights when not in use.
• Conducts visual inspection of fire prevention equipment to ensure it is operational.
• Checks student areas on a regular basis.
• Checks pool area and secures when not in use.
• Patrols parking area and assists people per College policies.
• Prepares a security report each shift and lists any problems that need to be corrected.
• Assists with College special events as needed.
• Contributes to unit planning and institutional effectiveness efforts.
• Acts as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and participates in required training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
