SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
Physician will work with the Abdominal, Heart, and Lung transplant teams with responsibilities including providing direct patient care to adult inpatients at Jackson Memorial Hospital Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
OUTLINE OF ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
24/7 Coverage for direct inpatient care to adult patients, including pre- and post-cardiothoracic transplant, LVAD, ECMO, and Cardiac Surgery Patients.
12 Hour Shifts with 3 to 4 shifts per week (Day and/or Night)
Attendance at multidisciplinary transplant conferences and rounds
Clinically collaborate with transplant team – Nephrology, Cardiology, Pulmonology Surgeons, and any other patient consultants.
Precepting trainees in inpatient settings
Participate in medical student, resident and fellow education
QUALIFICATIONS:
Awarded degree of M.D. or D.O. from an ABIM, ABA, or ABS recognized residency
Valid ABIM Certification in Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine, ABA Certification in Critical Care Medicine, or ABS Certification in Surgical Critical Care
Valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements
Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience, especially in transplant nephrology, to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care
Must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, patients, and family members
Must demonstrate the ability to meet responsibilities of the position
Specialized training in transplant after fellowship highly desired
Experience working and teaching in academic setting highly desired
