ACED (Adult Continuing Education for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) teaches classes on four campuses throughout the Kansas City metro area. ACED is housed within the Institute for Human Development at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Job Description

This is a temporary, non-tenure-accruing, non-benefits eligible position. The appointment is for the course session(s), with the possibility of reappointment. Salaries are negotiable based on education and experience.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Contributing to the academic and service environments for ACED
  2. Communicating issues and concerns regarding students to the ACED Director in a timely manner
  3. Responding promptly to emails, phone calls, questions, and inquiries
  4. Promoting and maintaining positive relationships with students, other ACED instructors, campus coordinators, and the Director
  5. Demonstrating knowledge, skills, and dispositions aligned with the ACED mission, vision, and values
  6. Teaching students in group settings for continuing education courses
  7. Applying and reflecting effective instructional practices for diverse classrooms
Qualifications

Applicants must apply and be interviewed by the ACED Director. Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the course material
  • Understanding of the ACED mission and values
  • Familiarity with teaching applied lessons
  • Proven successful teaching or equivalent experience

Benefit Eligibility
