Ultrasound Technologist/ Temporary Relief/ Night Shift/ Jackson West Medical Center

Position Overview

Ultrasound Technologist performs highly skilled technical work in diagnostic ultrasound using complex equipment for specialized and/or technically difficult examinations.

Responsibilities
  • Scan patients and maintain all safety precautions while administering treatments appropriate to the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Acquire pertinent clinical information from patient's chart and/or computer, maintaining safety standards.
  • Develop films when Medical Surgical Technologist is unavailable.
  • Record procedures in the computer (HIS System) and the daily log.
  • Transport patients as needed and perform portable exams.
  • Assist radiologists in O.R. cases and special procedures, setting up necessary equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and adhere to infection control policies.
  • Assist in training ultrasound students, residents, and fellows.
  • Review CQI reports and contribute ideas for quality improvement.
  • Maintain CPR certification and follow all unit-specific policies and procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate equipment and demonstrate service excellence and CARE values.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Extended standing, lifting objects up to 100 pounds with equipment, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment with exposure to potential hazards.
