Job Description
Gago Center for Fertility is looking for an experienced Sonographer to join our team who desires to specialize in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility. The role also includes assisting with medical assistant and scribe responsibilities, with training provided by the practice. 2 years of OBGYN experience preferred; reproductive endocrinology and infertility experience preferred but not required. Phlebotomy experience preferred; training available.
Must be willing to travel to the Lansing and Brighton locations and cross-train as a medical assistant and draw blood.

Job Summary
The Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Responsibilities also include daily operations of the monitoring schedule, clinic patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, quality assessment (QA), and assisting in medical assistant duties such as blood draws, assisting in procedures, creating patient information folders, and rooming patients.
The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Qualifications and Skills
EDUCATION
Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. An Associate of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is required.
Licenses/Certifications
Active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OBGYN. Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
EXPERIENCE
1 year of sonographer experience preferred. Experience in OBGYN, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Infertility preferred. Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment, evaluate sonograms for appropriate diagnostic information, and integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records.
Ability to use independent judgment to acquire optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed. Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician and effectively communicate with patients and the health care team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team while following established departmental procedures and coping with emergency situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must be physically capable of carrying out all assigned duties. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Strength sufficient to lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels, and move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers. Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.
RISK OF EXPOSURE TO BLOOD BORNE PATHOGENS
Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
