Job summary

OptumCare in Las Vegas is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to operate sonography equipment and perform diagnostic examinations across OB, abdomen, small parts, and vascular, with findings communicated to the physician.

You will manage patient scheduling, maintain RIS/PACS data integrity, ensure quality control, and support the Imaging - Ultrasound Department while adhering to HIPAA and department policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formally accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
• Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
• Current CPR Certification.
• Vascular Certification or ability to obtain in 6 months of hire.
• Complete 5 hours of CME specific to Breast Ultrasound within 30 days of hire or hold an active ARDMS Breast Registry.
• 1+ years of experience in field.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of sonographic equipment.
• Knowledge of sonographic procedures and diagnosis.
• Flexible to work overtime and on call as needed.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Following physician's orders, performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations (OB, ABD, Small parts, and Vascular).
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Greets and correctly identifies patient, prepares for examination and explains procedures in confidential area.
• Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, communicates findings to physician.
• Maintains imaging records in RIS and PACS/Synapse per HIPAA and company policies.
• Obtains pertinent medical history, prepares preliminary reports for radiologist, contacts referring physician when required.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area; ensures adequate supplies and contacts service as needed.
• Monitors PACS/Synapse and RIS for data integrity and transfers.
• May be assigned to other modalities if certified/licensed.
• Comply with annual Fit Testing as required.
