Job Summary
Prioritizes and coordinates ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians. Performs ultrasound exams following departmental protocols and standards. Provides appropriate patient care related to the exam requested. Operates ultrasound and related equipment proficiently.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical effort in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. Work involves walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting during normal operations. Requires mental skills to read and understand patient orders and technical materials. Motor coordination is needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment. Must have an intact sense of sight and hearing.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S) is required. Graduation from a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is preferred. BLS certification is required per policy guidelines. Interpersonal skills are essential.
