Job Summary
Prioritizes and coordinates ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians. Performs ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Provides adequate patient care related to the exam requested. Operates ultrasound and associated equipment proficiently.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical effort in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. Work involves walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting during normal operations. Requires reading and understanding patient orders and technical materials, motor coordination to operate heavy and delicate equipment, and an intact sense of sight and hearing.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Graduation from a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is preferred. BLS certification required per policy guidelines. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
