The Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasound equipment, performs a variety of technical procedures, and is responsible for patient care in the area. This position requires population-specific competencies.

The Ultrasound Technologist’s duties include, but are not limited to:
Additional duties for Echocardiographers include performing echocardiography and peripheral vascular procedures. For Lakeside Women’s Hospital, responsibilities include sterilization and documentation of surgical instruments. For Breast Sonographers, duties include performing breast ultrasounds, reviewing previous exams, interviewing patients, and assisting radiologists with interventional procedures.
The Ultrasound Technologist reports to the Lead Technologist or Manager/Director. This role may involve physical demands and respiratory fit test requirements. Work involves exposure to equipment, chemical fumes, contagious patients, radiation, and potential infection risks. The work environment may include irregular hours, emergency callbacks, and working in dark rooms up to 60% of the time.
