The Ultrasound Technologist provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

Position Details
  • Department Location: Intermountain Health Spanish Fork Hospital
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: PRN or as needed
  • Shift: Hours and shifts will vary depending on need
Essential Functions
  • Maintains ARDMS and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Qualifications
  • Registered with ARDMS
  • Successful completion of a pertinent registry beyond physics (e.g., OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, vascular)
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience
Physical Requirements
  • Visual acuity for reading information, labels, and assessing patient needs
  • Verbal and auditory communication with patients, providers, and visitors, especially during emergencies
  • Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment and computer work
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and transport patients and equipment, including heavy items
  • Walking, assisting with patient mobility, and navigating busy, cluttered environments
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

Intermountain Health Spanish Fork Hospital, Spanish Fork, Utah

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 (hourly range $37.46 - $57.80, dependent on experience)
