Job description

Overview

The Ultrasound Technologist Associate is responsible for performing all diagnostic procedures related to ultrasound and providing clinical services according to radiology/imaging practice standards. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in the use of ultrasound equipment and the performance of all protocols and procedures, producing high-quality exams within the appropriate time frame.

Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical services according to Radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions and high-quality results.
  • Performs the technical aspects of Diagnostic Ultrasound and produces images of internal organs with quality and proficiency.
  • Observes and monitors patients' vital signs and monitors medical equipment during the radiographic procedure.
  • Reviews physician orders with the Radiologist to ensure proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained as required.
  • Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS.
  • Administers patient care according to department and hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, including obtaining clinical history and informed consent from the patient.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families and answers questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
  • Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for hazards and troubleshoots malfunctions as needed.
  • Checks stock levels and maintains supplies to support efficient operations.
  • Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements and adheres to sterile technique and infection prevention practices where applicable.
  • Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations and accurately records information on requisitions and inputs data into PACS/RIS.
Licenses and Certifications
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
  • Eligible for Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS
Work Schedule

Variable hours (PRN).
