Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist with a breast experience preference to join our Radiology team. This part-time role offers 16 hours per week on Tue, Thu, or Fri (8:00a–4:30p) and involves operating Ultrasound and Non-Invasive Vascular equipment.

You will perform examinations, assess patients, support teaching, and help maintain high image quality. Required: AdS in Sonography; BLS and ARDMS credentials are expected, with various preferred degrees

Qualifications

• Required - Associates Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Preferred - Associates Degree Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography.
• Preferred - Associates Degree Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Vascular Technology.
• Preferred - Bachelor's Degree and specialty degrees in cardiac or breast ultrasound.
• Preferred - Technical Degrees in cardiac/medical sonography.

Responsibilities

• Performs Ultrasound examinations as established in the Radiology/Ultrasound Procedure Guide.
• Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation and accurate timely reporting.
• Assists in development of others through guidance and teaching.
• Maintains equipment quality and participates in quality monitoring.
• Ensures image quality and conducts quality control tests.
• Maintains supplies and operates RIS/PACS within scope.

Ultrasound Tech - Breast Experience Strongly Preferred

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for operating Ultrasound equipment and Non-Invasive Vascular equipment to perform Ultrasound and Non-Invasive Vascular examinations. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview

The Level 1 Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for operating Ultrasound equipment and Non-Invasive Vascular equipment to perform Ultrasound and Non-Invasive Vascular examinations. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What You Will Do

• Performs Ultrasound examinations as established in the Radiology/Ultrasound Procedure Guide.
• Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation of patient and records; reports findings accurately and on time.
• Assists in the development of others through guidance and teaching.
• Promotes professional practice of all members of the radiological services care team. Participates in quality monitoring and evaluation activities and maintains measures to ensure hospital, DNV and other quality standards are met.
• Ensures that equipment performance is optimum, performs appropriate quality control test and adjustments to maximize image quality.
• Obtains required Continuing Education and Certification necessary for the Ultrasound Lab to maintain accreditation with the ACR. Seeks out appropriate Continuing Education offerings to enhance technical skills and improve exam quality.
• Ensures that patient care or department related communications are coordinated among all radiological services team members.
• Attends and participates in, as a member or chairperson, in departmental/hospital committees or group meetings as appointed or assigned.
• Maintains supply inventory, including film, drugs, and other expendable supplies.
• Demonstrates knowledge and competent operation of RIS/PACS system within the scope of job position and function.

Supervision Provided by this Position

• There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job, except that the incumbent may occasionally demonstrate various job responsibilities to other Associates.

Physical Demands

• The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Must have good balance and coordination.
