DMC Hutzel Women’s Hospital is nationally recognized for high‑risk obstetrics and related fields. It has a long history of research and education in women’s health.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and following established policies, performs diagnostic ultrasound exams using appropriate imaging equipment. Verifies patient identity and reviews medical record for exam appropriateness. Interviews patient for medical history and assesses risk factors. Explains procedures, side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow‑up. Sets up equipment and acquires images as per script, reviews images, makes initial observations, documents exceptions, and communicates data to radiologist. Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies, provides post‑care instructions, participates in process improvement activities (quality of care, patient flow, reject‑repeat analysis, satisfaction), educates residents, student technologists, and new employees, and is able to take call or standby as required by the department.

Qualifications

1. Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S).
2. Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
3. Registered in specialty within 12 months of employment in area of discipline.
