Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a diagnostic medical sonographer to join the Navicent Health Medical Center - Ultrasound department. The role focuses on examining requests, supporting Radiologists in procedures, and ensuring quality across examinations.

Required ARDMS/ABR registries and a graduate ultrasound program; BLS is mandatory. The position commonly involves a 40-hour week with night shift coverage in a patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• Certified by ARDMS or ARRT (S) as a sonographer.
• ABDOMEN or OB/GYN registry required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Graduate of a diagnostic ultrasound program.

Responsibilities

• Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.
• Assists Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
• Evaluates technical quality of exam and develops superior technique for efficiency.
• Supports the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by meeting patient needs.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer or Engineer.
• Operates the Radiology computer system including entering and charging exams and supplies.
• Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keeps stock.
• Adheres to departmental rules and regulations in a professional manner.
