Responsibilities
  1. Performs routine and special diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to departmental and hospital policies.
  2. Operates and maintains all sonographic and ancillary equipment; assists with providing 24/7 coverage.
  3. Assists radiologists and physicians with biopsies and cyst aspirations using sterile techniques.
  4. Schedules appointments and instructs patients regarding preparation instructions.
  5. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and reports them.
  6. Follows ACR and departmental policies to maximize image quality.
  7. Operates teleradiology and ancillary equipment.
  8. Receives and records verbal orders from licensed practitioners.
Minimum Education

Associate Degree from an accredited certification program in Ultrasound Technology or Radiologic Technology.

Minimum Experience

3 months to 1 year of full-time sonographer experience or equivalent.

Licenses / Certifications
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire.
  • ARDMS registry in three or more disciplines: Abdominal, Obstetrics, Breast, and/or Vascular.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Fluent in reading, writing, hearing, speaking, and comprehending English.
