Job summary

The County of Santa Clara seeks an Ultrasonographer II with ARDMS certification to perform a variety of diagnostic sonography procedures across OB/GYN, abdomen, neurosonology, and vascular specialties. Under medical direction, you will ensure ultrasound equipment functionality and assist physicians in related procedures.

This position supports SCVMC, O’Connor, St. Louise Regional, and Regional Medical Center clinics, with potential for full-time, part-time, or per diem opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ultrasound procedures and equipment knowledge across OB/GYN, abdomen, neurosonology, and vascular technology.
• Understanding cardiovascular principles and ultrasound physics.
• Safety and quality assurance related to ultrasound procedures and equipment.
• Ability to operate PACS and accurately bill complex procedures.

Responsibilities

• Consults with referring physician regarding patient's medical history to determine the type of ultrasonic procedure required.
• Selects ultrasound and ancillary equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to examination protocol.
• Adjusts equipment controls according to protocol and physician orders for the body area to be examined.
• Explains examination process to the patients and assists during the procedure.
• Operates ultrasound diagnostic equipment, processes images, and presents completed sonograms for physician interpretation.
• Assists in training student technologists, interns/residents, and ultrasonographers.
• Maintains records; tracks and bills each procedure and supplies.
• Cleans and stocks procedure rooms and maintains inventory levels.
