Job summary

The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting at Riverside Health System will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients.

The Ultrasound Technologist responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information.

Qualifications

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credentials upon hire.
• Radiologic Technologists – ARRT Sonography credentials upon hire.
• Cardiac Sonographer credentials (CCI RCS) upon hire.
• RDCS or RVT credentials upon hire.
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis.
• Produces quality images following established protocols.
• Maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
• Educates patients and families regarding procedures.
• Explains procedures and independently performs ultrasound exams.
• Evaluates image quality and presents findings to the physician.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and room sterility.
• Performs equipment quality control measurements and troubleshooting.
• Monitors supplies to prevent service interruptions.
• Adheres to regulatory standards and RHS policies.
