Summary

Performs high-quality ultrasound procedures according to departmental policies on patients of varying ages. Performs clerical duties as needed. Responds to customer needs and participates in on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations.

Job Duties

• Identifies patients using two identifiers; verifies patient orders.
• Reviews and confirms orders; consults with radiologists as necessary.
• Performs imaging examinations using established protocols.
• Assists in specialized exams like vascular studies and procedures.
• Produces and processes diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Documents patient history, signs, symptoms, and preliminary findings.
• Ensures measurements are accurate before completing exams.
• Verifies all images are attached and linked in PACS.
• Assists physicians in specialized procedures, maintaining sterile techniques.
• Cleans and maintains sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests as needed.
• Handles patients professionally, with care, tact, patience, and safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved diagnostic medical sonography program or certification; in good standing with ARDMS.
• At least 3 years of ultrasound experience performing imaging examinations.
• At least 2 years of vascular ultrasound experience.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and approaches.
• Ability to assess performance and implement improvements.
• Ability to handle confidential medical information ethically.
• American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire.
• RDMS certification and ARDMS registration upon hire.

Physical Demands

Lift/carry 25 lbs., frequent sitting/standing, keyboard use, and activities like kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR as role requires.
