Job Description

Upon the order of a qualified provider, the Ultrasound Technologist utilizes equipment that employs high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of sono hysterosonography and/or vascular ultrasound may be required depending on assigned site. The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure quality images are obtained.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment.
  • Complete clerical processes using RIS and PACS systems.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and protocols of the Radiology Department and Clinic.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff as needed.

Qualifications
Education

Experience
  • UST I: None required.
  • UST II: Minimum 1-year clinical ultrasound experience.
  • UST III: Minimum 2 years ultrasound experience.
Licenses
  • UST I: RDMS or RT(R) (S) or must be a current applicant with ARDMS or ARRT (S), with certification achieved within 1 year of hire.
  • UST II: RDMS with at least 2 specialties or RT(R) (S) with 2 specialties; BCLS certification.
  • UST III: RDMS with 2 specialties and RVT/RVS or RT(R) (S) with RVT/RVS; BCLS certification.
Skills
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and digital image acquisition tools.
  • Preferred: Bilingual or multilingual skills.
