Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams, prepare patients, and ensure high-quality images for radiologists' interpretation.

This role requires ARDMS or ARRT certification and at least 1 year of ultrasound experience; a $20,000 sign-on bonus is eligible.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary program in Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology is required.
• Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology is preferred.
• ARDMS or ARRT certification in Sonography or equivalent (RDMS or CCI) required at hire or within facility timeframe.
• 1+ years clinical ultrasound imaging experience preferred.
• Hospital or acute care setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound imaging procedures following established protocols and ensure patient safety.
• Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring optimal imaging.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
• Document patient history, imaging procedures, and observations in the EMR.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment and report malfunctions.
• Assist radiologists during invasive ultrasound-guided procedures.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions to procedures or contrast media and respond appropriately.
• Participate in quality control initiatives to maintain accreditation.
• Educate patients and family members regarding imaging procedures.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment per infection control policies.

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis and evaluation of patient medical conditions. This role includes patient preparation, capturing high-quality diagnostic images, and ensuring the accuracy of images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians. The Ultrasound Technologist adheres to radiation safety protocols and maintains equipment in accordance with departmental standards in an acute care hospital setting.

Essential Functions

• Perform ultrasound imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring optimal imaging and diagnostic accuracy.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Document patient history, imaging procedures, and observations in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Maintain equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and reporting equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist radiologists and physicians during invasive ultrasound-guided procedures, such as biopsies and aspirations.
• Monitor and assess patients for adverse reactions to procedures or contrast media and respond appropriately.
• Participate in quality control initiatives to maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Educate patients and family members regarding imaging procedures and provide compassionate patient care.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with infection control policies.

Qualifications

Education

• Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) graduate of an accredited Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology program (required)
• Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology (preferred)

Licenses / Certifications

• (S) ARDMS or ARRT – Sonography or equivalent credential (RDMS or CCI) Upon Hire or within facility-specified timeframe (required)

Experience

• 1+ years clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound imaging (preferred)
• Prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting (preferred)
