Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least one year of ultrasound experience, ARDMS eligibility, RVT within a year, and ARDMS certification in Abdomen, OB, RVT, and Breast within two years. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer at least one year of ultrasound experience.
  • ARDMS eligible with certification in Abd or OB within 6 months of hire.
  • RVT certification within one year of hire.
  • ARDMS certification in Abd, OB, RVT, and Breast completed within two years of hire (every 6 months).
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound procedures and processes orders using electronic system.
  • Maintains infection control and a clean, organized environment.
  • Monitors patient condition and documents changes.
  • Educates patients and families about procedures.
  • Addresses age-related patient needs and reduces anxiety.

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist performs Ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. He/she performs and assumes responsibility for a variety of technical procedures assigned.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing nature or scope of this position or level of responsibility. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Performs procedures and utilizes electronic system to verify and process orders.

  • Follows infection control practices, practices universal precautions and maintains a cleans and organized work environment.

  • Assesses and monitors the patient; reports and documents change in the patient’s condition and/or support equipment (I.V., oxygen, chest tube, ET tube, etc.).

  • Interacts with the patient, family members and other staff to help educate them on the procedure.

  • Understands any age-related patient needs and responds accordingly; reassures patient and consistently tries to obtain cooperation while reducing anxiety.

  • Attends staff and departmental meetings and participates in hospital wide work groups as assigned.

  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions.

Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent
Experience
  • Prefer at least one-year experience performing Ultrasound Procedures
License/Certifications
  • ARDMS eligible (One ARDMS certification in either Abd or OB within 6 months of date of hire).

  • Must have RVT within one year of date of hire.

  • Must have ARDMS certification in Abd, OB, RVT and Breast all completed within two years of hire at the rate of one every 6 months.

  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

Base Pay Scale

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $58.72 - $79.33 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
