The Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasound equipment, performs a variety of technical procedures, and is responsible for patient care in the designated area. This role requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, depending on patient contact level. The Ultrasound Technologist reports to the Lead Technologist or Manager/Director and may have specific physical demand and respiratory fit test requirements. The role involves exposure to equipment, chemical fumes, contagious patients, ionizing radiation, and potential infection risks, with occasional emergency calls and working in darkened rooms.
