Qualifications

• Vocational or technical school diploma required.
• Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification required, ARMDS in AE as needed.
• 1–3 years of technical experience preferred; BLS through AHA may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for ultrasound exam; positions patient and explains procedures to reduce anxiety.
• Obtains imaging and reports for correlation; consults with referring physician on history.
• Sets up equipment and uses machine settings for accurate results.
• Recognizes structures and differentiates artifacts from pathology; determines need for further evaluation.
• Observes patient during examination and reports changes in condition.
• Documents image details and maintains records; labels studies.
• Performs minor repairs and calibration checks; troubleshoots equipment as needed.
• Performs related duties as required; other duties may be assigned.
