Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Advanced Sonographer to operate ultrasound imaging equipment and related software to assist in diagnosis and treatment. The role requires proficiency in imaging protocols, patient safety, and maintaining imaging standards.

The candidate will also serve as a lead when supervision is unavailable and act as a resource for training and education. Minimum requirements include graduation from a school of Sonography with required clinical hours and at least 2 years of relevant

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience.
  • License: State licensure may be required depending on the state of practice.
  • Certifications/Registries: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 3 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area and 5 years of applicable experience; Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • In Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS OR ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire/transfer depending on scope.

Responsibilities

  • Lead when direct leadership is unavailable and serve as an expert resource.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new staff.
  • Operate imaging equipment and software proficiently, primarily ultrasound equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care.
  • Maintain imaging standards and ensure patient safety.

  • Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
  • Knowledge of advanced procedures and/or invasive procedures, if applicable
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance protocols and accreditation standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
