Job summary

Principle Health Systems in Abilene, TX seeks a Mobile Ultrasound Technologist (Contractor/PRN) to travel within the Abilene area performing general and vascular scans for patients in skilled nursing, home health and hospice settings. Candidates must be licensed, with 1+ year of scanning experience; ARDMS preferred. Travel up to 200+ miles/day within territory; pay per trip and per patient discussed.

Qualifications

  • Valid license to practice ultrasound.
  • Minimum 1 year scanning experience (2–3 years preferred).
  • ARDMS abdomen or vascular certification preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of general and vascular examinations.
  • Comfortable writing a technical impression of each finding.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care and Ultrasound Examinations: prepare patients, perform general and vascular scans, note abnormalities.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Reporting: operate and report equipment issues, upload studies to PACS and mark records complete.
  • Documentation and Communication: prepare concise technical impressions and ensure timely reporting.
  • Work Environment and Collaboration: manage multiple patients, work independently with minimal supervision.

Mobile Ultrasound Technologist (General/Vascular)

We are seeking a skilled and licensed Mobile Ultrasound Technician to join our team. This role involves traveling within a designated geographic area to perform general and vascular ultrasound scans for patients residing in healthcare facilities (long-term care, assistedliving, skilled nursing, home health, and hospice). The ideal candidate will possess the necessary licensure, certifications, and expertise to conduct examinations independently and with precision. This position requires professionalism, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • PRN as needed/Contractor position
  • This role will be very flexible and was created to help pick up some imaging orders throughout the week; We can work with your availability and create a schedule that would work for you
  • Must be willing to travel within and around the Abilene, TX Territory
  • Trip fee and per patient fee offered (open to discussion on desired pay)
  • Paid training provided ,and all imaging equipment for use
  • Mobile position traveling to different skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and patient homes within a territory
RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care and Ultrasound Examinations

  • Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and answer any questions they may have.
  • Perform general and vascular ultrasound scans to assess and identify areas of concern.
  • Notify appropriate medical staff immediately of any abnormalities requiring urgent attention.

Equipment Maintenance and Reporting

  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Promptly report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
  • Upload completed studies into the online PACS system and accurately mark records as complete.

Documentation and Communication

  • Prepare clear and concise technical impression reports summarizing findings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all examination results.

Work Environment and Collaboration

  • Manage multiple patients efficiently while adapting to a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with team members as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Minimum of 1 year of scanning experience (2–3 years preferred).
  • ARDMS (Abdomen or Vascular) certification preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of general and vascular examinations.
  • Comfortable writing a technical impression of each finding.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods while performing patient services.
  • Comfortable driving for extended stretches to various patient locations up to 200+ miles per day.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under high-stress situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and varying patient needs.
