Blue Star Imaging is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist in Frisco, TX. The role conducts diagnostic medical sonography exams using high-frequency sound waves, ensuring high-quality imaging to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment while prioritizing patient safety and compassionate care.

The technologist will perform exams, operate equipment, review patient history, and collaborate with radiologists, maintaining patient records and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • ARDMS and RVT certifications.
  • 2+ years ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular or other imaging.
  • Strong attention to detail and patient-focused communication.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound examinations per protocols and physician orders.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images with proper technique.
  • Review patient history to tailor imaging procedures.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality.

Ultrasound Technologist -PRN


Position Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic medical sonography examinations using high-frequency sound waves to visualize internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures. The technologist ensures high-quality imaging to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions while providing compassionate patient care and maintaining patient safety. The Ultrasound Technologist reports to the Office Manager of Blue Star Imaging and is a PRN position based in Frisco, TX.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.

  • Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images with proper positioning and technique.

  • Review patient history and clinical indications to tailor imaging procedures appropriately.

  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the procedure

  • Evaluate image quality and make adjustments to optimize diagnostic value.

  • Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to provide accurate and timely imaging results.

  • Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and exam logs within the PACS/RIS systems.

  • Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper function and cleanliness

  • Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and compliance standards.

  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain certification and knowledge of emerging techniques.

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

  • Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) and RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist).

  • Experience: 2+ years of clinical ultrasound experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, and/or other specialty imaging.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize normal vs. abnormal findings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and healthcare teams.

  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Ability to assist and position patients, including lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

  • Physical stamina to stand for hours, bend, lean, squat, and/or sit as needed throughout the day.

  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer systems.

  • Good vision and hearing for accurate assessment of images and patient communication.
