Job summary

Freeman Health System is seeking a dedicated Ultrasonographer to perform ultrasound examinations for radiologic diagnosis, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate ordering of procedures. The role requires clear communication and adherence to departmental standards.

Responsibilities include obtaining high-quality images, ensuring proper patient identification, and maintaining equipment and documentation in PACS, while contributing to continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic sciences or ultrasound technology program.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
  • Clinical experience through radiologic sciences program.

  • Identifies and uses PPE, ensuring safety and comfort of patients.
  • Obtains ultrasound images and performs procedures independently.

What You’ll Do

Performs ultrasonic examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in applying ultrasound techniques for radiologic diagnosis. Responsible for the safety and comfort of all patients undergoing ultrasound procedures. Ensures that all procedures have been appropriately ordered with satisfaction patient identification obtained prior to conducting procedure.

  • Correctly identifies and uses appropriately personal protective equipment. Consistently uses skilled communication which demonstrates congruence between words and actions and holds others accountable for doing the same. Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations. Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized in an efficient manner. Uses equipment safely, adhering to policy, guidelines and/or protocols set by the hospital and department. Effectively role models professional behavior. Ensures continuity of professional care. Responds to patient and family requests promptly. Completely and independently performs all ultrasound procedures. Assumes responsibility for patient care, safety and comfort. Obtains ultrasound images, while adhering to departmental standards. Properly identifies patients before procedures. Effectively maintains supplies and facilitates ordering. Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements. Obtains all radiographic images while adhering to departmental standards. Ensures that all procedures are properly ordered, verified, and acknowledged. Scans appropriate associated documents into PACS for radiologist interpretation. Consistently provides reproducible quality images. Informs PACS support or corrects errors. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.



Requirements


  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic sciences or ultrasound technology program.

  • Preferred graduate of an accredited radiologic sciences program with a B.S.; Completion of advanced modality program(s).

  • Clinical experience acquired through the completion of radiologic sciences program.

  • Preferred two years experience as a ultrasonographer an acute care hospital setting AHA.

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
