Job summary

Terrestris, LLC seeks a Sonography/Ultrasound Technologist to support the Veteran community at 1051 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, New Jersey. The role is open to Locum or traveling professionals.

You will perform a full range of ultrasound procedures, work with Radiologists, and hold RDMS/RVT credentials along with BLS/ACLS; VA experience is a plus. The position runs weekdays, with competitive hourly pay and a contract structure including base year and options.

Qualifications

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Licensed to practice Radiologic Technology in a U.S. state/DC.
  • RDMS certificate (abdomen, breast and/or obstetrics & gynecology).
  • Experience performing ultrasound studies (abdomen, gynecology, obstetrics, vascular, breast).
  • RVT certificate is a plus.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • VA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of ultrasound procedures including complex exams.
  • Conduct independent portable ultrasound exams in ICU, ER, surgery, or medical center as needed.
  • Work evenings, nights, and weekends or on call as scheduled.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and evaluate scan acceptability.
  • Set up, adjust equipment, and maneuver the transducer.
  • Record and process images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Alert radiologist to abnormal findings and share preliminary results.
  • Advise on preliminary results to radiology staff.
  • Greet patients, explain procedures, and assist movement to/from examination areas.
  • Position patients for examinations and coordinate transport to/from Ultrasound department.

Position Highlights:
  • Logistics:
    • Pay: $55.00+ per hour.
    • Contract Type: 1 base year with 4, 1-year option periods
    • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
    • Location: 1051 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, New Jersey
  • Requirements
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
    • Contractor’s personnel shall be licensed to practice Radiologic Technology in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
    • RDMS certificate (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (in abdomen, breast and/or obstetrics & gynecology depending on the services provided).
    • Experience performing ultrasound studies which include, but not limited to: Abdomen and retroperitoneum, small parts, gynecology, male pelvis, obstetrics, vascular imaging, miscellaneous: breast sonography, breast biopsies.
    • RVT certificate (Registered Vascular Technologist) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is a plus
    • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Previous experience with the VA is a plus

What does a typical day look like for the Sonography/Ultrasound Technologist?

You will:

  • Perform a full range of ultrasound procedures, including special complicated examinations for which there may not be standard instructions or procedures.
  • Performs independent portable ultrasound examinations in intensive care units, emergency room, surgery, and the Medical Center when required.
  • Works independently on evenings, nights, and weekend tours of duty as scheduled and/or when on call.
  • Knows the principles and can operate the ultrasound equipment to approve the acceptability or rejectability of each scan.
  • Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers the transducer to perform the exam.
  • Records and processes images for interpretation by a staff Radiologist or resident.
  • Alerts Radiologist of emergent or abnormal findings and forwards initial interpretation of findings to Radiologist for final interpretation.
  • Advises Radiologist or radiology resident of preliminary results of exams.
  • Receives and identifies patients, explains methods and purpose of examinations, and assists movement of patients to and from: wheelchairs, stretchers, and tables.
  • Aligns, properly, and positions patients for examinations.
  • Coordinates and/or assists with the transportation of patients to and from the Ultrasound department.
