Job summary

Terrestris is seeking a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to support the Veteran community at 1051 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. The position welcomes Locum or Traveling professionals and features a Monday–Friday schedule with a base hourly rate of $55.00+.

Responsibilities include patient transfer, room preparation, contrast administration, image transfer to PACS, and ensuring image quality and QA processes. VA credentialing may be required.

Qualifications

• ARRT CT and Diagnostic X-ray certification required.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
• Knowledge of CT anatomy and 3-D reconstruction techniques.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients to radiographic tables and prepare room for procedures.
• Prepare contrast materials for CT exams.
• Perform CT procedures with quality control and image transfer to PACS.
• Maintain equipment and patient safety; support after-hours urgent studies.

  • Contract Type: 1 base year with 4, 1-year option periods

  • Computed Tomography (CT) requires specific knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in spiral and/or multi-slice computer tomography, inclusive of 3-D reconstruction scans, including drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist?

You will:

• Transfer patients from stretcher or wheelchair to radiographic table.
• Prepare the room, equipment, and materials needed for patient procedures.
• Prepare oral and injectable contrast and other chemical mixtures as necessary.
• Insert catheter needles in patients receiving intravenous (IV) contrast for CT exam.
• Follow prescribed protocols required to perform procedures.
• Observe patients during procedures and report complications or unusual events.
• Perform all technical aspects of computerized integrated components of all CT studies. Transfer selected images to the current Picture Archiving and Communication System (PAC), such as Philips IntelliSpace Radiology, and verify the arrival of the complete and accurate images.
• Be responsible for the quality assurance of the image such as positioning, label, technique, and network information.
• Send emergent studies after hours to offsite National Teleradiology Program assuring proper form is completely filled out.
• Assure completion of required forms associated with patient exams, credit of patient visits, complications and/or quality improvement activities of Imaging Service.
• Perform daily maintenance of head and body phantoms, such as changing water, cleaning, and removing air bubbles.
• Perform daily cleaning of equipment as indicated by infection control standards.
• Administer contrast material, under the direction of the Radiologist, according to protocols.
• Check and make minor adjustments to equipment such as setting wedges or changing adjusters
• Maximize patient throughput by contact with escorts, ward clerks, nursing personnel, and staff physicians.
• Maintain a clean work area and adequate level of supplies within their assigned rooms at all times.
• Provide training to lower-grade employees, student radiographers, and residents from affiliated programs and facilitate the attainment of established program objectives.
