Job summary

Norman Regional Health System seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations for diverse patient populations. The technologist will operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, follow physician orders, and capture high-quality images to support accurate diagnoses.

You'll prepare and position patients, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and safety while adhering to infection control and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in diagnostic medical sonography and related imaging procedures.
  • Understanding of abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound techniques.
  • Knowledge of EMR documentation and patient data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and protocols.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Apply infection control, radiation safety (as applicable), and departmental policies.
  • Document procedures and findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and care team members to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Recognize and promptly report urgent or abnormal findings to appropriate clinicians.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment in readiness for patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education and competency assessments.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care aligned with organizational values.

Responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, explaining procedures, maintaining safety and infection control standards, and documenting findings in the EMR. The role collaborates closely with radiologists, nurses, and other team members in a patient-centered, compassionate environment that values teamwork, lifelong learning, and professional growth.
