Job summary

Community Hospital South in Oklahoma City is seeking a Registered Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) to provide timely diagnostic ultrasound services across imaging modalities. You will work holidays and participate in rotating call after hours, contributing to the Imaging Services team and maintaining clinical competencies.

Essential duties include producing high-quality sonographic images, reporting findings to radiologists, and assisting in special procedures.

Qualifications

  • Registry eligible with ARDMS required.
  • Complete physics and one specialty registry within one year of hire date.
  • Must have completed all required coursework from an ARDMS-accredited program.
  • Proficient in vascular, abdominal, OB, ECHO, and small parts imaging.
  • BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care per Imaging Services policy and patient care standards.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment with advanced competence.
  • Produces diagnostic sonography images as ordered.
  • Identifies abnormalities and reports findings to radiologist in a timely manner.
  • Positions patient, selects technique factors, and prepares films for interpretation.
  • Assists radiologist during sterile procedures when needed.
  • Generates requisitions, labels, and files imaging reports and patient charges.
  • Transport patients to and from Imaging Services as required.

The Registered Ultrasound Technologist will provide services timely and efficiently at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by Imaging Services. The Ultrasound technologist will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Imaging Services Policy and Procedure Manual. It is required to work holidays as well being responsible for rotating call for emergency procedures after hours. Will assist in assigned administrative tasks and will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Provides care to all patients according to Imaging Services policy and procedure and patient care standards.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and competence in the operation of Sonography.
  • Ability to produce diagnostic medical, cardiac, and vascular Sonography according to policy and procedure and patient care standards.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in identifying abnormalities and reports findings to a radiologist in a timely manor.
  • Performs imaging procedures independently by interpreting the order, assessing the patient, completing necessary paperwork, positions the patient, selecting appropriate equipment and supplies, selecting accurate technique factors, processes and prepares films for interpretation.
  • Assist the radiologist during special procedures requiring sterile technique.
  • Generates patient requisitions through order entry, assigns x-ray numbers, markings the film with the correct patient information, pulls folders, files reports, flies folders, and acknowledges patient charges.
  • Transportation of patients as needed to and from the Imaging services department.
  • Ability to take directions from physicians and supervisors and follow through in a concise manner, which promotes efficiency.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
Licensures & Experience
  • Registry eligible with the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) required.
  • Technologist must complete the physics and one specialty registry within one year of hire date.
  • Must have completed all required course work from an accredited institution recognized by the ARDMS.
  • Must be proficient in Vascular, abdominal, OB, ECHO, and small parts imaging.
  • BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
