Job summary

Bayou Bend Health System is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic sonography using ultrasound equipment, locating, evaluating and recording data under supervision of the Medical Director and Radiology Director.

Responsibilities include producing quality images, ensuring patient safety, screening patients, and providing pre-/post-exam education while coordinating scheduling with other departments to minimize patient wait times.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of sonography.
• Active ARDMS or CCI-RCS certification with 1 specialty.
• Exhibits working knowledge of ultrasound equipment and procedures.
• Ability to obtain patient history and explain procedures clearly.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Ultrasound Technologist, under the direction of the Medical Director and the Directorof Radiology,performs diagnostic sonographic examinationsutilizingultrasonicequipment tolocate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, andanatomical data.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems
• Monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff
• Performs patient screening by using established protocols
• Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job
• Provides complete pre and postexamededucation to patients and family

DESIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Education: Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasoundprogram.
• Licensure: American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry, Active and unrestrictedA.R.D.M.Scertification OR CCI-RCS, 1 Specialty Registries, Basic Life Support, BLS–HCP
• Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures.
• Referstophysicianorders/chart for any special instructions that may beindicated.
• Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
• Explainsprocedurescompletelytofacilitatecooperation and alleviate anxiety.
• Performs all procedures in an efficient andtimelymanner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
• Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
