Job summary

Colorado Imaging Associates, PC in Lakewood, CO is seeking a part-time Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic and procedural ultrasound imaging in collaboration with our interventional radiology team. The role includes patient preparation, real-time imaging support during IR procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of ultrasound experience with interventional radiology, venous and vascular imaging, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in ultrasound imaging with interventional radiology focus.
  • ARDMS/ARRT certification preferred but not required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, ultrasound physics, and image interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic sonography examinations as ordered by physician.
  • Assist IR procedures with real-time ultrasound guidance (biopsies, drain placements, catheter insertions).
  • Differentiate normal vs. pathologic findings and communicate results.
  • Prepare patients and obtain consent, ensuring comfort and understanding.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to acquire high-quality images.
  • Collaborate with IR team to support procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and preserve equipment hygiene.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging and assisting our interventional radiologists in performing minimally invasive procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing, innovative practice focused on providing exceptional care to our patients.

This position will be part-time, 1-2 days per week, between Monday and Thursday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations as ordered by physician.
  • Perform diagnostic and procedural ultrasounds to assist with Interventional Radiology procedures, including biopsies, drain placements, and catheter insertions.
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the procedure.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-resolution images of relevant anatomy.
  • Work closely with the interventional radiology team to provide real-time imaging support during procedures.
  • Review images for clarity, quality, and accuracy, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, sterilized, and calibrated.
  • Assist in patient education, answering questions about the procedure and preparing them for the exam.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in ultrasound imaging, with a focus on interventional radiology, venous and vascular ultrasound. Experience with PAD.
  • Current ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification or certification through ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) as a registered technologist in Sonography (R.T.(S)) is preferred but not required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, ultrasound physics, and image interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and team members effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining attention to detail.
