The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:* Competent to perform all procedures within the Ultrasound Section of the Radiology Department* Competent in technical operations of all equipment* Assess the patients, review orders/chart as appropriate to confirm reason of exam* Ensure pertinent patient symptoms and clinical history are documented and a signed consent form is present if needed* Prepare patients for procedure, answer any questions and effectively communicate with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol* Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist* Provide safe environment to include infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals* Monitor timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement* Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation* Actively participate in department’s Performance Improvement Projects* Other duties as assigned# **Minimum Qualifications**The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:## **Education and Formal Training**:* High school diploma or equivalent required* Graduate of an accredited Sonography certificate or diploma program required* ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registry eligible required* Interns must be registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of internship required* Current AHA BLS required## **Work Experience**:* 1 year experience preferred## **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required**:* Technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography* Positive interpersonal skills* Verbal and written skills* Compassionate patient care* Knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups* Ability to provide care based on the patient’s developmental needs* Effective patient care and interacts effectively with patients of all ages## **Physical Requirements**:* Ability to communicate orally* Dexterity and visual acuity* Mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations* Ability to stand for long periods of time* Ability to bend and lift up to 100 pounds, carry objects up to 50 pounds* Position may involve skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious material* **#CFVH-2026****Required Licenses and Certifications**BLS - American Heart AssociationCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender IdentityFor exceptional healthcare come to Cape Fear Valley Health where caring employees are committed to integrity, patient-centeredness and excellence throughout the entire healthcare process.
