Job Description

Provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. As an Ultrasound Technologist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical team and ensuring patients receive the best care.

Shift Details

Full‑time (40 hours per week). Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Unit / Location

Platte Valley Hospital, Brighton, Colorado.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality‑specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and prepare the patient for the exam.
  • Perform exams per department protocol and review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assist and instruct students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provide appropriate patient education, ensure patient comfort, and address concerns.
  • Practice appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understand and operate equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keep accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality control programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Qualifications
  • Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) – successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular).
  • Health Services BCLS – Basic Life Support (Certification for Healthcare Providers).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent verbal and auditory communication with patients, visitors and staff during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, frequent computer use and typing.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, carry supplies and equipment (including up to heavy items).
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
  • Stand for extended periods in a stationary position.
Work Details
  • Location: Platte Valley Hospital, Brighton, Colorado.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Hourly range: $38.77 – $59.82 (actual rate depends on experience).
